BTG1, BTG4, TOB2, USP2 and PEG was mapped to human 12q22, 11q23, 22q13.22q13.31, 11q23.3 and 19q13.4 respectively. The following genes were then assigned to porcine regions 5q24-q25, 9p21, 5p15 and 6q11-22 respectively, which resulted in an agreement with comparative mapping results. There are several putative quantitative trait loci (QTL) for pig backfat thickness, loin eye area and diameter of muscle fibre in the chromosomal regions where these genes were mapped. In addition, BTG1 and TOB2 have significant effects on muscle development.
