DETROIT - Ford Motor Co. earned in the first half of this year nearly as much as it did in all of 2014. But here's the kicker: Ford says the second half will be even stronger. Dealers will finally - after one of the most complex and closely watched model changeovers in industry history - have full supplies of the redesigned, aluminum-bodied Ford F-150. The new truck didn't factor into the 44 percent increase in second-quarter profits because launch costs and lower sales offset a big jump in transaction prices.
