EU, US business groups still hopeful of TTIP approval

LONDON (ICIS)--Seventeen business groups from the EU and the US, including the European chemical trade group Cefic, showed on Monday their “continued support” for the trade deal being negotiated between the two jurisdictions and asked for “continued and vocal” support from political leaders. The joint statement comes after the German vice chancellor, Sigmar Gabriel, leader of the SDP (social democrats) and coalition partner of Angela Merkel's CDU government, reportedly said in August the negotiations for the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership had failed but “nobody is really admitting it.”
