From drover to writer

WHEN Camooweal, Queensland, drover Kelly Dixon wrote the words to 'Leave Him in the Longyard' - the well-known Slim Dusty song - he was writing from firsthand experience. Kelly has spent the best part of a lifetime in the saddle moving mobs across the Territory and he has known his share of swag canvas, camp-oven cuisine and exceptional stockhorses.
