The man who started the term 'Carbon Grazing' to highlight the importance of a grazing rest in the short period after rainfall for boosting rangeland ecosystem carbon stores was considering closing down his web site on the subject. Alan Lauder becamefrustrated by the lack of recognition among decision makers about what is the most fundamental aspect of CO2 sequestration particularly in low and variable rainfall grazing districts. "Their lack of support means the important message is not getting thenecessary exposure required to create awareness, and then uptake in the field. A classic example of the term nearly losing its meaning before it had a chance to get established was when ABC's Landline used it," Lauder says.
