THE LEASING of rural land is a vital component of agricultural business in Britain and the United States. In Australia, it is not a subject receiving much attention at the policy level. At the recent Finance Summit in Canberra, it was discussed briefly as a component of the debate on future farm business structures. It was not considered to be a topic worthy of discussion in its own right, nor did the Steering Committee see any need for work on the topic.
