If an a-c motor is overloaded by a known amount for a known time but runs within its rated temperature the rest of the time, is there a way to estimate the effect on motor life? Only if there is some way of knowing what the life would be at any temperature. And in any case the answer depends upon how "life" is defined. Let's presume it's the time until the winding fails thermally.
