For a long time it was considered that there was potential for a ferry service from Westpark Marina to the ferry terminal in downtown Auckland, New Zealand. Potential operations were hampered by the restrictive nature of Westpark Marina. Shallow depths, narrow channels and lack of large size docking facilities all played their part in preventing commencement of services. On top of this, the inherent financial risks associated with such a venture meant no actual efforts to prove the feasibility of this route had been made.
