Docks; ferries.-A dock for the accommodation of train ferries is provided with rails on the dock side at about the mean level between high and low tides and with two reservoirs b, c, Fig. 1, one for supplying water to the dock so that ships may leave and enter when the tide is below half-water, and one for receiving water from the dock when the tide is above half-water. The former reservoir is filled at high water and the latter is emptied at low water, but they are cut off from the sea at other times. The ship F is provided with a rail deck f which projects slightly over the bow and stern.
