Botanists honoured in plant naming

IN the last article, we introduced 'names within names' - people commemorated in plant names. Botanists introducing new names use the opportunity to honour royalty, politicians, patrons, friends, sponsors, colleagues, plant collectors and, above all,other botanists. Botanists attain scientific immortality by either describing a new species or having a new species (or genus) named after them.
