摘要

I am a Snowbird— a person who moves to a warmer climate when the cold winter arrives. Every spring when temperatures rise, I return to my home in the north. This annual migration is performed by many thousands who seek to escape snow, ice, freezing temperatures and the gray skies of our northern winters. There are a growing number of Snowbirds who are bonsai enthusiasts. My husband and I have been traveling between Connecticut and Florida since 2000. Connecticut is on the Atlantic coast next to thestate of New York where the growing season starts about late March or early April and ends around the middle of October when the first frosts hit. Florida is also along the Atlantic coast. Our location on the southwestern side of the long Florida peninsula, very near the Tropic of Cancer, is considered subtropical.
