According to the Korean Ministry of Commerce,Industry & Energy,the sales of large-scale retailers continue to increase supported by vigorous consumer demand.October discount store sales increased by 7.4% compared to the same month of 2004 with sales of apparel rising by 11.6%,household articles by 6.8% and food by 6.2%.The purchasing amount per person increased by 2.9% to 41,895 won.
