摘要

On May 1,2008, it was just about impossible to find a beef farmer from the lower-mid St. John River fSoodplain to comment on the quickly-rising spring freshet. Cecil and Ella Coy live along the St. John River above the village of Gagetown; watching the river through the seasons has become a part of the fabric of their lives. As a ferry operator, Cecil has an intimate understanding of the river - not to mention a comprehensive knowledge of its social scene, since most ferry travelers network with theoperator on their trips across the river.
