The collar for a cattle stall comprises a frame which includes side members (13, 14) joined at the top by two spaced top members (15). A U shaped member with arms (28, 29) at the bottom is joined to it by chain links (31-34). Inner members (21, 22) are pivoted near their lower ends by hinges (16, 17) to the side members (13, 14). Links (41, 42) are pivoted at their outer ends to members (21, 22) by hinges (48, 49). The inner ends of the links are connected by a member (44, 45) which is pivotally mounted between lugs (47) on the top members (15). The inner space (25) enables a cow to insert its head and neck. Rotation of members (44, 45) brings members (21, 22) into a vertical position retaining the animal by trapping its head.
