Overcoming of dormancy in seeds of eight tropical forage legumes.

Seeds of eight tropical forage legumes (Leucaena leucocephala, Clitoria ternatea, Calopogonium mucunoides, Neonotonia wightii, Macrotyloma axillare, Pueraria phaseoloides, Desmodium ovalifolium and Macroptilium atropurpureum) were submitted to 4 treatments: intact seeds (T1); hand scarification with sandpaper (T2); immersion in hot water (100 degrees C) for 20 minutes (T3), and immersion in 10% sulfuric acid for 40 minutes (T4). The experiment was performed in seedling chamber. A completely randomized design at factorial scheme 8x4 with four repetitions was used. The experimental unit comprised 50 seeds.
