Watch what they eat: Feed intake monitoring system will benefit industry

We finally have the good news we have been working for on installing feed intake measuring equipment at the Maritime Beef Test Station in Nappan. Thanks to a research grant submitted by the Maritime Beef Council to AAFC's Agricultural Innovation Program, a GrowSafe feed intake monitoring system will be installed this fall. This has taken several years to happen, but now that the funding is in place, the Maritime beef industry has an opportunity to be on the cutting edge of bull selection. The industry is also now able to fully partner in research because this facility is industry-owned and industry-directed, giving beef producers a significant stake in whatever projects may take place.
