Fall Fair 'Something worth fighting for': Beef cattle figure large in 2009 event

The Maritime Fall Fair livestock show - the show that wasn't supposed to be - was well attended and well supported by the agricultural community and by the spectators around the ring. With the "redesigned" Fair, all livestock exhibitors had to share space traditionally shared by half the group. One third of building "D" (generally considered the "cattle barn'") was given over to portable stalls for light horse and gymkhana exhibitors. Approximately another third is now used as a "runway" to move rodeo animals in and out of the main arena, and also for the cattle show ring and marshalling area for the cattle. This year the end of the "runway," next to the traditional warm-up area for horses, was converted into a second show ring for draft horse and sheep exhibitors.
