Food Safety and Residue Prevention Committee Report

In response to issues raised by the EU the National Residue Survey (NRS) was reviewed at our last meeting in association with AQIS. As a result, an increased number of contaminants are to be tested including nitrofuran metabolites, tylosin and pesticides. It was pleasing to see that budgeted expenditure for 05/06 was on track with forecast at 39,852 dollar and reserves at 188K dollar. Forecasted expenditure for 06/07 has been provided to the Committee at 45,047 dollar, which is sustainable considering revenue estimates of 80,500 dollar. The Committee is considering further appropriate utilisation of reserves for the benefit of industry.
