Apparel Exports Still Shaky

Apparel exports to quota countries in the first four months of 2004 (January-April)were 498.8 million units,worth USus1,970.1 million,according to latest figures released by AEPC (Apparel Export Promotion Council).These figures represent a decline of 0.82% in quantitative terms and a growth of 5.67% in value terms.However,part of the growth in value is explained by the appreciation of the rupee-it rose almost 10% against the dollar in 2003.
