Small proponents

With the approachofa July7deadline for small-scalebiomassprojectdescriptions, in response to a request for proposals (RFP) NovaScotiaPowerlnc.issuedinDecember 2008 for a total of 10 MW, the company was not saying whether the 10 proponents who initially expressed interest were still in the game. But Fenton Travis, projects manager with Marwood Ltd., based in Fredericton, N.B., confirms he is sitting this one out. It's notfor lack of interest or insufficientsupply of fuel. He just can't afford to takepart in the arduous RFP process, and believes there are many other would-be power suppliers who find these up-front costs prohibitive.
