France's EdF extends Edison talks

French state-controlled utility EdF and agroup of Italian investors, including utilities A2A and Iren, have agreed to extendtalks regarding the future of Edison,Italy's second-largest power generator,and its 50pc-owned unit Edipower.EdF will obtain a majority stake andcontrol of Edison in exchange for renewableenergy assets under a proposeddeal. The French group will also takeover A2A's stakes in two combinedcycle gas turbines (CCGTs).
