Panama Canal expansion slips to 2016

The Panama Canal Authority(ACP)has pushed back the date for completing a major expansion project to the first quarter of 2016 after reaching an agreement with the main contractor GUPC.The strategic expansion,which will allow larger vessels including LNG tankers of up to 173,000m3to use the route,had been due for completion in 2015. The agreement that should resolve the high-stakes impasse is due to be signed shortly,according to ACP administrator Jorge Quijano.
