Republicans continue battle over EPA's remit

The US House of Representatives has passed two bills aimed at delaying new federal regulations as Republican lawmakers continue their efforts to handcuff the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) (AGE, August, pp17-18). The Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny Act (HR 10) passed on 7 December by a 241-184 vote. Every Republican voted for the measure, while only four Democrats crossed party lines. The House also voted 268-150 to pass the Farm Dust Regulation Prevention Act (HR 1633) on 8 December after several hours of debate.
