The Philippines' petrochemical industry appears divided on whether the government's decision to reduce import duties on plastic resins to 10% from 15% will reduce the incidence of smuggling. One source told ACN the move to reduce tariffs (ACN 13-19 Jan, p8) would give downstream producers less incentive to source polymers from smugglers.
