Kazakh crude exports set to soar

Kazakh crude exports could rise by up to 80pc by 2006 on the back of plans to ramp up shipments along the country's largest single export route - the Caspian Pipeline Consortium's(CPC)link from Tengiz to Novorossiysk in Russia -and to construct a major new pipeline to China.Exports are predicted to rise to nearly Imn b/d by the end of this year,up from 772,000 b/d in 2003.They have already risen to 883,000 b/d in the first four months of the year,26pc up on the same period last year.Further increases to 1.4mn b/d are forecast for the end of next year,once a planned pipeline to China comes on stream.
