Steel industry in Saudi Arabia: Hadeed extends its range

The Saudi Hadeed Company has entered a new and significant stage in its production development through putting into commercial production of its steel flats project.Its production is expected to exceed a little bit 3.5 million tons in 2000. By this figure of production it well be ranked first in products on the level of the Arab countries, and it will have an advanced Position on the level of the largest steelmakers worldwide.Hadeed's transition through the long products into the flat products will enhance its capability to satisfy the requirements of its domestic markets in addition to satisfaction of the requirements of the Gulf markets.During the past years, Hadeed has proved to the able to compete in the field of long products. It will assert this ability again by its flat products which began to occupy a certain position in the Saudi markets when it had started its commissioning during the second half of 1999.The Arab Steel magazine will try by publishing some parts of this article which had been published in MBM, issue of December 1999, to monitor the views of the analysts and those who are involved in pursuing of the development of the Arab steel industry and its achievements of development in all related fields.Even though some views do not conform to the viewpoint of the magazine, we will publish them in order to make the reader familiar with the writings of the world press about the Arab steel industry which has come to have a competitive position not only inside the Arab market but also on the level of the world markets.
