Southern Green shoots

Rising production, limited storage space and growing shipments from Canada are regularly depressing US medium sour crude Southern Green Canyon (SGC). New wells at BP’s Atlantis and BHP Billiton’s Shenzi fields in the Gulf of Mexico have increased SGC output (AGM, 12 December, p4). Deliveries to Texas City and Nederland on the Texas coast rose to nearly 190,000 b/d in August- December, 45,000 b/d more than in the preceding six months. Existing infrastructure is struggling to cope with the extra production.
