Europe and Japan seek cFtc flexibility

Several finance ministers have urged US commodities regulator the CFTC to be more flexible in applying cross-border regulations for over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives, including oil swaps. But the 2010 Dodd-Frank Act explicitly prevents the agency from adopting some of the flexibilities that other regulators are seek- ing, CFTC chairman Gary Gensler says.
