Wintershall Signs an Exploration and Production-Sharing Agree- ment for Offshore Block 4N (Khuff)

Qatar Petroleum (QP) and Wintershall Holding AG, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the German group BASF, have announced the signing in Doha of a gas exploration and production-sharing agreement coveringoffshore Block 4N (Khuff). The tract is located north-west of the North Field gas field and the Al-Shaheen oil field. It covers an area of 544 sq km (about 18.15 km by 30 km) and the depth of water is around 70 meters. The 25-year agreement fixes the initial exploration period at 30 months.
