Saudi Aramco Confirms its Intention of Integrating a Petrochemical Complex with the Ras Tanura Refinery

Saudi Aramco has drawn up an ambitious plan for integrating a major petrochemical complex with the Ras Tanura refinery in the coming years.The project "will increase the revenues and profit margins of Saudi Aramco and the kingdom and will provide additional employment opportunities for Saudis," the company explains on its web site.The resulting complex would be similar to that being built at Rabigh,on the Red Sea,by PetroRabigh,a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Sumitomo Chemical Co.Ltd.(AOG,16 Aug.,2005).
