Saudi Aramco Awards BOOT Contract for Four Cogeneration Projects to International Power/Saudi Oger

Saudi Aramco signed four energy conversion agreements with a consortium composed of the UK's International Power and Saudi Oger providing for the latter to implement cogeneration projects for supplying electricity and steam at four of the Saudi national oil company's sites.The projects will be carried out under the terms of a BOOT (build-own-operate-transfer) contract.The new power plants,which are expected to cost over SR 2 billion (US533 million),will be connected to Saudi Aramco's existing oil and gas facilities.As part of this program,Tihama Company,a joint venture between International Power and Saudi Oger,will develop,build,finance and operate the cogeneration plants,which will produce 1,075 MW of electricity and 4.5 million pounds of steam per hour.The plants will be transferred to Saudi Aramco 20 years after the commencement of commercial operations.The four projects are listed opposite.
