KOC Issues Two Tenders for the Expansion of Gathering Center No.27 and the Refurbishment of Oil Sector Facilities

Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) issued two tenders in December for two major projects that are expected to be worth KD 20 million (US66 million) and about KD 250 million respectively.The first was for an EPC (engineering,procurement and construction) contract for the expansion of gathering center No.27 (GC 27) at the Umm Gudair field,whose capacity is to be increased to 220,000 b/d from 190,000 b/d now,for the construction of a new crude desalting unit with a capacity of 40,000 b/d,and for the modification of the light crude processing train.A separate tender had originally been issued for the desalting unit,when the U.S.company Petrofac was the low bidder (AOG,16 Dec.,2003).
