Masdar Sets Up a Joint Venture with Sener for the Development of Solar Energy Plants

Masdar, an Abu Dhabi-based company specialized in alternative energy sources, has set up a 40:60% joint venture with the Spanish company Sener Grupo de Ingenieria SA for the design, construction and operation of solar power plants embodying CSP (concentrating solar power) technology to be located in sunbelt regions. Known as Torresol Energy, the new joint venture will start by building three solar power plants in Spain at a total cost of 800 million euros, one of which will utilize the central CSP reception tower system.
