Exports of Both Crude Oil and Gas Exported by Gasline Increased by 54% in Value Terms in 2005

Under the effect of the rise in oil prices and its repercussions on the prices of other energy products,Algeria's hydrocarbon export earnings (expressed in U.S.dollars) increased by 44.7% to 45.63 billion last year.An examination of the detailed statistics released by the Ministry of Energy and Mines shows that it was exports of crude oil and natural gas exported by gasline that increased the most in 2005; in value terms they rose by 54% (to 19.32 billion) and by 54.6% (to 7.32 billion) respectively.The figures for oil exports include the share of foreign companies (gas is exported solely by Sonatrach).If one retains only Algeria's share,the value of crude oil exports increased by 52.6% to 15.32 billion.
