Project Kuwait Should Shortly Be Submitted to Parliament

The Kuwaiti government is now ready and willing to submit all the documents regarding Project Kuwait,entailing the development of the production capacity of the northern oilfields,to Parliament,according to the Energy Minister,Sheikh Ahmed al-Fahd al-Sabah.He added that this should happen before the end of April,with the aim of securing Parliament's approval in June at the latest.The framework agreement will be sent to the parliamentary finance and economic affairs committee as soon as it has received the go-ahead of the Supreme Petroleum Council (SPC) and then the Cabinet.The committee will then submit the project to Parliament,according to Al Shall Economic Consultants,which thinks the planned two-month timeframe is too short."The optimism of the Energy Ministry is based on its conviction that it has resolved all the obstacles that caused controversy around this project.We will only be able to judge once the project has been adopted," maintains Al Shall.
