Output of South Coast Gas Project Could Reach 100-120 Million Cu Ft of Gas Equivalent Per Day by Late 2008 or Early 2009

The South Coast Gas (SGC) project on offshore Block 9 (see map on following page) has just entered production, the U.S. company Pioneer Natural Resources Company, of Dallas (Texas), announced on 4 October. The output of natural gas and condensate is due to reach around 50 million cubic feet of gas equivalent per day by the year end. But the subsequent completion of production operations at the Sable field should enable production to be stepped up substantially further by late 2008 or early 2009, with the peak rate of output reaching some 100-120 million cfge/d, according to Pioneer Natural Resources. Condensate will account for about 20% to 30% of total output.
