Sasol Chevron,Shell and Statoil Could Bid for the Development of Algeria's First GTL Plant

Algeria,which is more of a gas province than an oil province,plans to have a stake in a new natural gas-based industry,that of gas-to-liquids(GTL)conversion,following in the footsteps of several other producing countries that have already started investing in this technology.They include Qatar,which is leading the world in the development of GTL,and Nigeria.The Algerian authorities have issued an international tender for a GTL project whose feed gas would come from fields in the Tinrhert region,in the Illizi basin,and it is already clear that several foreign companies are taking an active interest in the project.They include in particular Sasol Chevron,Royal Dutch Shell and Statoil of Norway.
