U.S.Investments in Saudi Arabia Have Totaled US4.15 Billion Since 2000

The United States and Japan have been the leading foreign investors in Saudi Arabia in recent years,according to the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA).Between April 2000,when the SAGIA was created,and 19 May last,foreign investment totaled SR 57.61 billion (US15.36 billion),of which the United States accounted for SR 15,561.5 million,Japan for SR 11,223 million and France for SR 3,859.3 million.Among Arab countries,Syria was the leading investor in Saudi Arabia,with investments of SR 1,851.3 million.SAGIA approved 2,280 projects during the period,of which 195 were engineering projects (SR 2.88 billion) and 114 were in the chemical industry (SR 13.02 billion).Foreign investors from 64 countries accounted for 82.7% (SR 47.63 billion) of the approved investments.
