Iran Aims to Capture a 10% Share of International Gas Trade Eventually

In an official report entitled 20 Years Outlook, the Iranian government indicates that the country should eventually account for 10% of international gas trade. This is an ambitious objective, since although it has the world's second largest natural gas reserves after Russia, Iran currently has a share of only 1% of world trade, according to the Deputy Managing Director of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Mr. Mostafa Kashkoli. Quoted by the Shana news agency, an arm of the Iranian Oil Ministry, Mr. Kashkoli added that the 10% figure was based on the assumption that all the planned phases of the development of the South Pars field would go ahead.
