RWE, a Member of the Nabucco Consortium, Hopes to Sign an Agreement Shortly for the Purchase of Gas from Kurdistan

RWE Aktiengesellschaft, which is one of the partners in the Nabucco gasline project, is very interested in Iraqi Kurdistan, as are some of its associates, such as the Austrian group OMV and the Hungarian company Mol. On 27 August the German company and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) announced the signing of a cooperation agreement that could result in, among other things, the conclusion of a sale and purchase agreement for natural gas to be exported to Europe through the Nabucco pipeline. On that occasion, the Chief Executive Officer of RWE Supply & Trading GmbH, Mr. Stefan Judisch, indicated that he hoped to conclude an agreement to that end shortly, which could help consolidate the substantial progress made recently in the development of the Nabucco project.
