BP Reports a 16th Oil Discovery on Ultra-Deepwater Block 31

The already long list of offshore discoveries in which BP is involved in Angola was further lengthened in October with the discovery of the Dione field on ultra-deepwater Block 31. Dione is the 16th field that BP has discovered on this tract, of which it has been operator since May 1999 (for the full list, see the table below). On deepwater Block 18, which is also operated by the British company, eight discoveries have been made and several of them have been brought into production. Furthermore, BP holds interests in Blocks 15 and 17, which are operated by ExxonMobil and Total respectively and where 17 and 15 discoveries have been made, making a total of fully 56 for BP.
