UK generator Drax’s move into the wood pellet production sector could allow it to diversify its business into the bio-mass heating markets. Drax is looking at“whether we might sell some output into the heating market”,chief executive Dorothy Thomp-son said today.The company will have two pellet plants operating in the US Gulf of Mexico region with a capacity of 900,000 t/yr in 2015,and has drawn up plans to expand production and develop a new hub on the US east coast.
