Alianca/MRS to raise train capacity to/from Santos

Alianca Navegacao e Logjstica, the Brazil-based ocean carrier owned by Hamburg Siid, plans to increase the capacity on the 'Express Train' container service it runs jointly with the Brazilian rail operator MRS Logistica. Also, Alianca said that within a year the company would double its monthly l,500TEU throughput. The service consolidates containers at MRS Logistica's 40,000m2 terminal at the Jundiai dry port, 60km north of Sao Paulo. From there they are transported to Santos, then snipped to US, European and other South American destinations, on Hamburg Sued/Alianca vessels.
