Biomass is expected to play an important role in the future of the UK’s renewable heat generation after 2020, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy official (BEIS) Oliver Quast said at the Wood Heat Association’s annual conference in Edinburgh Tuesday. And proposed changes to the renewable heat incentive scheme (RHI) are likely to support larger biomass heating installations. “The government recognises that the RHI scheme has an important contribution to make towards carbon and renewable targets," Quast said.
