Risk of cancer in Meckel's diverticulum.

On the basis of a population-based assessment of the risk of cancer in patients with a Meckel's diverticulum, Thirunavukarasu and coworkers recommend excision of these typically asymptomatic congenital lesions. The accompanying editorial endorses this point of view. However, we believe that the data does not support this recommendation.
