'America first': Impacts on Canada and US refiners

In his inauguration speech on Jan. 20, US President Donald J. Trump singled out his top priority to look out for the country first and reject globalism. To create more jobs in the US, he will restructure the current border tax system to impede imports and favor exports. As first reported in the Dec. 26, 2016 issue of the Digest, the border adjustment feature means that revenues from US-made goods would be completely tax-free, while costs associated with importing goods would not be deductible.
