Vessels for the Future

As part of the EU's Horizon 2020 programme, over 50 companies, research institutes, academic organizations and interested associations have signed up to take part in a new Vessels for the Future (VftF) initiative which aims to improve shipping's safety record, sustainability and global competitiveness. VtfF has set ambitious targets for 2050 of reducing shipping's CO_2 emissions by 80%, SOx/NOx emissions by 100% and risk by a factor of I O.The grouping is applying for EU Horizon 2020 funds to help fund the R&D effort under what it hopes will be a public private partnership with the EU Commission.
