Banks: why we love to hate them

ASK ALMOST ANY business owner, or indeed the director of any business, for a 'story' about a bank and the answer will be spontaneous and invariably negative. All the usual stories are there, from failure to provide credit, to overcharging for services, and more recently for fraud and even money laundering1. Banks have been painted the bad guy for at least three decades - sometimes with good reason - remember the GFC? In case anyone has forgotten that was caused by bankers' recklessness fuelled by personal greed.
