3M buys traffic and parking firms

3M has acquired two UK traffic firms as part of a $110m deal for the global business of Federal Signal Technologies Group (FSTech). The group includes two UK-based operations. PIPS is a leading provider of number plate recognition and DCS develops vehicle detection and classification technologies. PIPS Technology is based in Chandlers Ford, Hampshire and provides advanced number plate recognition systems including ANPR and Image Processing systems and has installations around the UK and across the world.
