摘要

Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) is grown under varied range soil texture. In western Uttar Pradesh too, major area of chickpea is under marginal and sub marginal soils where this crop is grown as rainfed after the harvest of kharif crops. Sometimes, owing to late harvest of kharif crop or application of organic manures like FYM and compost, farmers tend to go for short duration variety recommended for late sown conditions. Being short growing period, a cultivar needs proper nutrient management practices in order to harness the yield potential In legumes, phosphorus enhances the activity of rhizobia and increases the formation of root nodules. Yahiya et al. (1995), Sulphur, being a constituent of many proteins and enzymes has been found to have beneficial effect on chickpea by Shiv Kumar (2001). Hence, present experiment was conducted to assess the performance of chickpea cultivar PG 186 under different levels of phosphorus and sulphur application.
